eTEC Mechanical and eTEC Fire-Protection are full service mechanical/fire-protection contractors providing engineering, installation and maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, piping and fire protection systems. We provide diverse mechanical services to meet our customer’s needs, ranging from engineering and installing heating and cooling systems to maintaining and troubleshooting commercial/industrial HVAC and fire protection systems. eTEC’s mission is to provide commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, piping and fire protection systems for customers who need a single source mechanical contractor. We are the only mechanical service provider in central Virginia able to efficiently provide professional in-house engineering, installation and maintenance for HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems to the commercial and industrial market.

Job Title: Safety Manager

Job Summary: eTEC is seeking a Safety Manager with experience in Commercial Construction in Richmond, Virginia. This position will work from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday -Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance with corporate environmental health and safety policies and procedures and safe work practices
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of administrative controls to protect and promote employees' health and safety and satisfy customers' requirements
  • Visit job sites to evaluate compliance with regulatory bodies and standards (including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.) and corporate safe work practices; report findings and recommendations to field leadership
  • Liaison with employees to address concerns regarding health and safety policies
  • Track injury and incident metrics to identify trends; recommend appropriate hazards controls
  • Perform investigations of workplace accidents and injuries; make recommendations to correct issues
  • Analyze accident reports and incident trends based n available facts; recommend evidence-based safety performance goals
  • Monitor driver safety
  • Ensure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that local and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
  • Assist with the application for necessary work permits as needed
  • Monitor safety training for content and completion
  • New hire safety orientation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
  • 3 years' experience in the construction industry (mechanical, electrical, plumbing preferred; fabrication shop experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
  • Travel required (25 to 30 percent)
